Costa Calida

Just adjacent to the south of the Costa Blanca and sharing many of its features,The Costa Calida is located south of Torrevieja and extends down to border Costa Almeria. It is easy to escape to from the UK & Ireland, at just over two hours' flying time from the UK - you can fly to San Javier airport in Murcia, which is very handy, or Alicante is also nearby. There is also a new international airport at Corvera opening in 2006. If you're considering buying a property in this area, you might be pleased to know that it is still relatively un-commercialised compared to other areas of Spain such as the Costa del Sol, and offers great value and a great deal of variety to suit a wide variety of property buyers' needs.Whether you are looking for a holiday home on a golf resort or a more permanent base in which to enjoy the sun and a quieter pace of life, there is a home to suit you in this area. Boasting over 170 km of coastline made up of coves and small beaches don't be surprised to also find some stunning rocky shores and sheer, craggy cliffs. In the north of the region is Mar Menor by La Manga, a coastal strip of land which completely closes off the Mar Menor lagoon from the Mediterranean leaving wild seas and unprotected shores on one side and small coves with calm clear and warm waters on the other, creating Europes largest seawater lagoon. The region boasts three main commercial areas: the city of Murcia itself, Lorca and Cartagena. The Costa Calida or 'warm coast' and surrounding Murcia region offer so much, with one of best all-year-round climates in Spain.

The average annual temperature here is 18ēC and the average during the summer is above 22ēC.With over 3,000 hours of sunshine per year and such a temperate climate, there is little wonder that the warm sea can reach up to 30ēC in high summer.
